Your hike: Around the Massif du Mézenc – Gerbier-de-Jonc
A nature walk to discover some of the most beautiful landscapes of Haute-Loire and the Ardèche mountains. 5 days of walking through the high volcanic plateaus under the benevolent care of Mont Mézenc and Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc. You evolve on paths between Ardèche and Haute-Loire to discover breathtaking landscapes, moors favorable to the breeding of Fin Gras du Mézenc, the intertwined colors of an intact and preserved nature (Broom, flowers, meadows , streams, etc.). A pedestrian journey, a volcanic parenthesis to recharge your batteries through the immensity of the landscapes, the simplicity of the encounters, the taste of the terroir….

To allow you to start your hike the next day in peace, discover a territory with a strong character. You will be accommodated in Fay-sur-Lignon - Reception in your accommodation from 5 p.m.
Your first day of hiking will take you over the trout river of Lignon and will take you near the Roches de Fay-sur-Lignon. Soon, you will discover the volcanic lake of Saint-Front then the 12th century comb church which shines in the center of the village. The continuation of the path takes you to Moudeyres and its thatched roofs through volcanic plateaus.
Today you will come out onto the high plateaus of the Mézenc, which boast lush pastures, herds of Fin Gras du Mézenc cattle and characteristic houses. Take advantage of your stopover in Les Estables to climb up Mount Mézenc (the rooftop of the Haute-Loire).

A day that makes you apprehend the immensity of the high volcanic plateaus of Mézenc and the Ardèche mountains. You walk in the company of cows that quietly graze on the Cistre (grass emblematic of the high plateaus of Mézenc), the horses are grazing...
A long and intense stage today with a bigger drop. Go up through the mounts, the broom, the forests to reach the Mont-Gerbier-de-Jonc, sources of the Loire before plunging towards Sagnes and Goudoulet.
The route will take you up before diving towards Saint-Martial zigzagging and offering you magnificent landscapes on this mountainous Ardèche. The flora is incredible and envelops you in your progress (many species of trees, broom...). You will need courage to reach from Saint-Martial - Borée (430m drop). Undoubtedly the most difficult stage of the route.
From Borée, you progress not far from the Cirque des Boutières, the path takes you to La Rochette before reaching the incredible village of Saint-Clément which dominates the Saliouse valley. You can discover its famous wind school. Still a little courage to rise and join Fay-sur-Lignon where you will be expected for your last night.
