The Way of St. James – Part 2 – From Nasbinals to Conques
A week on the Way of St. James, continuing the GR65 Aubrac trail along the banks of the Lot River to reach the magnificent Conques Abbey. Hike light by opting for luggage transport at each stage. You will be accommodated half-board in guesthouses, cottages, or hotels.

Head directly to Nasbinals/Montgros (a nearby hamlet) where you'll be welcomed to enjoy this pretty little Aubrac village before beginning your hike.

Here we go, you're walking through the heart of the meadows and now entering the Aveyron department. You'll reach the magnificent village of Aubrac before heading towards the charming village of Saint-Chély d'Aubrac.

This stage of the GR65 marks the transition between the Aubrac Plateau and the Lot Valley, offering a beautiful variety of landscapes between mountains, forests, and medieval villages. It's time, perhaps with regret, to leave the Aubrac Plateau and head for the peaceful and majestic Lot Valley! You'll arrive in the magnificent town of Saint-Côme d'Olt and its twisted bell towers, waiting to be discovered...

You'll walk the Camino de Santiago along the Lot River, passing Espalion before reaching Estaing. Enjoy this stage rich in architectural discoveries. This stage of the GR65 follows the Lot Valley, alternating between forests, hills, and typical villages of northern Aveyron. It offers magnificent panoramas and passes through towns rich in heritage.

Day 10: Estaing - Golinhac / Campuac - 16km - D+550m - 4h30
Today, it will take courage to climb above the Lot River and reach the highlands. But "Ultréïa," Conques, is not far away!

You complete your journey and discover Conques, the pearl of Rouergue. Simply magnificent, with its Sainte-Foy Abbey seemingly emerging from nowhere! This legendary stage of the GR65 marks the arrival in Conques, one of the jewels of the pilgrimage. The route crosses rolling landscapes, forests, and small villages before a spectacular descent to Conques.
If staying in Campuac: Route via the GR6 to rejoin the GR65 at Campagnac

Day 12: Journey back to Le Puy-en-Velay
You and your luggage will be picked up from the Étoile car park in Conques (8 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. depending on your choice) by a minibus to ensure your return to Nasbinals (Arrival expected 1O:15 p.m. or 3:15 p.m. depending on the departure time and road conditions).

No need to travel; it will be sent to you with your travel diary before your departure. However, if you plan to attend the Pilgrims’ Mass at 7 a.m. at Le Puy Cathedral, you can find credential on site. Price: €7 / credential when booking your hike

Where to park in Nasbinals?
You can park your vehicle at the hikers’ and motorhomes’ parking lot at the exit of the village of Nasbinals (towards Saint-Urcize, near the containers).
By Train
The nearest train station is Aumont-Aubrac. To get to Nasbinals, you can add an extra stopover to your stay to depart from Aumont-Aubrac; your return will be provided to the station, or you can use a taxi.
