ARTICLE 10 : ACCOMODATON
L’Autre Chemin places great importance on the choice of accommodations; however, this choice depends on the availability of lodging (which may vary in terms of comfort and type of accommodation throughout the trip) as well as the availability at the time of booking.
Accommodations are organized in guesthouses, hotels, cottages, or unique lodging in private rooms (unless otherwise specified). Generally, the bathroom and toilet are private, but depending on the stage and availability, in some accommodations sanitary facilities may be shared or located outside the room.
By booking the trip, the client acknowledges that such accommodation arrangements may exceptionally be offeredand cannot give rise to any complaint, compensation, or refusal of the contract.
Single room accommodation :
- When a client plans to travel alone, they will automatically be accommodated in a single room at each stage of the trip (an additional single room supplement will apply, which is mandatory at the time of booking).
- For clients who are not traveling alone but wish to stay in a single room, the agency will make every effort to accommodate this request. However, given the limited number of single rooms available on certain stages or itineraries, it is possible that some accommodations cannot be offered in single-room configuration. In such cases, the room may be converted to a twin room to share (two beds) with other travelers in the group.
Clients are informed of this possibility at the time of booking and accept this arrangement. Naturally, in this event, any single room supplement paid at the time of booking will be adjusted according to the number of stages where a single room could not be provided.
ARTICLE 11 : LUGGAGE
Article 11 .1 : Luggage weight
Generally, trips offered by L’Autre Chemin include a luggage transport service from one stage to the next, limited to one single bag per person weighing less than 13 kg (except in special cases specified in the trip description).
The transported luggage must explicitly:
- Have a maximum weight of 13 kg.
- Be a single piece and of a reasonable size, maximum 120 cm (height + width + length).
- Be clearly labeled with the tag provided by the agency.
- Be soft-sided (hard-shell suitcases are not accepted).
- Be available each morning from 8:00 AM in the reception area of the accommodation (delivery to the next accommodation at 5:00 PM).
In the event of exceeding the luggage weight limit during your stay (13 kg for a single bag) or the number of bags (1 bag per person), the following surcharges will apply:
- For walking trips: a surcharge of €9.50 per stage for each additional bag.
- For cycling trips: a surcharge of €20 per stage for each additional bag.
In such cases, a secure payment link will be sent to the client via email or SMS to cover the surcharge and allow the transport of one or more additional bags. A supplementary canvas bag will be provided by our transport partner to help distribute your belongings.
Article 11.2 : Type of luggage
To facilitate luggage transport at each stage and to minimize the risk of damage, hard-shell and/or wheeled suitcases are not allowed. We kindly ask you to use soft, non-fragile luggage of limited value.
Article 11.3 : Theft or damage
The client remains responsible for their luggage throughout the entire duration of the trip, particularly in the event of theft or damage at the accommodation, at the pick-up or drop-off locations, in the luggage storage, and during transport. L’Autre Chemin cannot be held responsible for any damage, theft, or loss of luggage during the trip.
By taking out multi-risk insurance (including the insurance offered by L’Autre Chemin through its partner Chapka), you may, subject to coverage by the insurer (depending on the contract, circumstances, etc.), benefit from protection in the event of loss, theft, or damage to your luggage during your stay. No luggage insurance is included in the price of the agency’s services without subscribing to this option. A depreciation factor, as indicated in the insurance contract and information documents, will be applied to damaged luggage according to its initial condition and age.
The client is informed of the risk of damage, theft, or loss that may occur during the trip and is encouraged to take out insurance to cover these risks. Note: a claim cannot be made for the deterioration of items that are not normally expected to be included in the inventory of luggage transported on a walking or cycling trip (laptop, tablet, mobile phone, musical instrument, etc.).
