Our insurance partner allows you to plan your trip with greater peace of mind and minimize the financial consequences linked to the cancellation or interruption of your trip as long as the reasons fall within the scope of the guarantee.

L’autre Chemin bikes have a peace of mind bike guarantee – Breakage/theft insurance

By choosing a cycling trip from the L’Autre Chemin agency with the included rental of an electric bike or a self-assisted bike, you benefit from a “peace of mind” guarantee for any damage caused or theft of the bike from the L’Autre Chemin park. Please note: This guarantee does not apply when you travel with your own bike and for bikes rented from partners, particularly for stays not starting in Le Puy: stays in Corsica, Vendée, on the Canal du Midi, Canal de Garonne, Vélodyssée, Antilles, ViaRhôna, Camargue, stay in the Allier Gorges, etc.

The Peace of Mind Guarantee:

  • To limit the impact of breakage on the agency’s bike during your stay (exclusions specified below) – In the event of breakage, contact the L’Autre Chemin agency within 24 hours and we will ask you to provide us with the circumstances of the breakage and photos of the damage caused.

  • To limit the consequences of the theft of the agency’s bike, whether by assault or break-in (exclusions specified below). In the event of theft, contact the L’Autre Chemin agency within 24 hours and we will ask you to submit the complaint and give us the key to the lock (possibly the anti-theft device cut if available).

Note: In the event of failure to comply with the claim reporting deadline, the customer will not benefit from the “Peace of Mind” guarantee.

The “Peace of Mind” guarantee deductible:

When the damage caused to the bicycle or the theft of the latter falls within the conditions of coverage of the guarantee, the tenant will pay the excess set at:

  • In the case of repairable damage: 20% of the amount of the repair costs presented in Article 9.5.3 of these General terms & conditions or according to the estimate presented by the agency’s Bike Shop (parts & labor) with a minimum excess set at €30.
  • Dans le cas d’un vol ou de la destruction totale du vélo, le montant forfaitaire de la franchise est fixé à :
    • €500 for an ebike
    • €200 for a standard bike
    • €80 for a trailer

What is not covered by the “Peace of Mind” guarantee:

  • Damage caused intentionally or with the complicity of the customer,
    • Theft by or in the hands of a family member or close friend of the client,
    • Theft of the bicycle if not secured by a lock (provided by L’Autre Chemin) at a fixed attachment point
    • Theft other than theft by assault or burglary and burglary on the public highway of property not attached by an anti-theft device to a fixed point.
    • The loss of the bike
    • Driving the insured bicycle while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or narcotics.
    • Non-fixed bicycle accessories: pumps, GPS, bags, helmets, battery charger, etc.
    • Damage resulting from failure to follow operating instructions (jumps, acrobatics, skidding, transport of additional people, competitions, etc.) and from driving on unsuitable terrain, particularly located outside the routes proposed by the agency
    • Punctures, broken chain, tires
    • Damage and theft occurring in the absence of risk, losses resulting from negligence, civil liability of the customer,
    • Acts of war or civil war, riots, internal unrest, politically motivated violence, terrorist attacks, strikes, natural disasters, or nuclear energy-related incidents.

When damages are excluded from the “Peace of Mind” guarantee:

  • The repair costs shall be invoiced to the client according to the rates set forth in Article 9.5.3 of these General Terms & Conditions of Sale.
  • In case of significant damages (to the motor, wheels, suspension, frame, etc.) requiring a quotation from L’Autre Chemin’s bike mechanic, the client will be required to provide a security deposit check of €1,000 per damaged electric bike or €500 per standard bike. The remaining deposit will be refunded to the client after deduction of repair costs. The deposit may be increased by the client to cover full repair costs or the market value of the bicycle in the case of total destruction.
  • In case of theft or loss, the client undertakes to pay L’Autre Chemin the market value of the bicycle in order to allow its replacement.
