Whether you’ve already completed the first part of the Chemin du Puy to Aumont-Aubrac or not, we offer a hike that combines the pleasure of walking and discovery. Take the time to embark on an adventure on the Way of Saint James (GR65) from Aumont-Aubrac to Conques.

For this walking trip, we have planned:

  • Luggage transport from one stage to the next (you only carry your daypack)
  • Return by minibus from Conques to Aumont-Aubrac

Day 1: Your arrival in Aumont-Aubrac

Considered the gateway to Aubrac, the village of Aumont-Aubrac captivates visitors with its distinctive architecture and omnipresent nature.

Day 2: Aumont-Aubrac - Prinsuéjols (Possibly Montgros 23.5km) - 16km - 4h - D+410m

Walk amidst endless landscapes, burons, and water. It's all there; you're walking through a real postcard. Incredible Aubrac!
Note: Prinsuéjols has limited accommodation options and if this is not possible, we will offer you accommodation in Montgros (23.5km).

Day 3: Prinsuéjols - Aubrac - 20km - 5h30 -D+440m

Continue your journey through the heart of the meadows to reach the Roc des Loups, a granite chaotic formation with its oculus, before descending towards Le Bus and the Marcahstel bridge. You'll pass through Nasbinals and then reach Aubrac, concluding your journey by joining the Aveyron.

Day 4: Aubrac - Saint-Côme d'Olt - 24km - 5h30 - D+250m

From Aubrac, you'll reach the statue of Notre Dame des Gentianes before reaching Saint-Chély d'Aubrac and its pilgrims' bridge. Then it will be time, no doubt with regret, to leave the Aubrac plateau. Rest assured, what awaits you is very pleasant, including the discovery of the majestic Lot Valley! You will arrive in the magnificent town of Saint-Come d'Olt and its twisted bell towers, waiting to be discovered...

Day 5: Saint-Côme d'Olt - Estaing -20km - 5h30 - D+480m

You continue your walk along the Lot River to Espalion and then Estaing. A beautiful stage rich in architectural discoveries.
Please note: depending on accommodation availability, the stage may be offered in Espalion (10 km).

Day 6: Estaing - Golinhac/ Campuac - 16km - 4h30 - D+550m

From Estaing, head back up to Golinhac or Campuac, depending on accommodation options.
An alternative route is available if you're staying in Campuac - Historic Route

Day 7: Golinhac / Campuac- Conques - 21km - 5h30 - D+390m

Conques is not far away, and you'll end your journey in style with the discovery of Conques, the pearl of Rouergue. Simply magnificent, with its Sainte-Foy Abbey seemingly emerging from nowhere! You'll spend one last night on the Camino de Santiago in Conques, with your return planned for the next day.

Day 8 : Journey back to Aumont-Aubrac

Meet at 8 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. depending on your choice where a shuttle will take you from Conques to Aumont-Aubrac (Arrival at 10:30 a.m. or 3:45 p.m. depending on departure time and road conditions).

This price includes:

The Credential The pilgrim’s passport to be stamped at each stop.

We offer the Credential of the Friends of the Way of Saint James as an option. No need to travel; it will be sent to you with your travel diary before your departure. However, if you plan to attend the Pilgrims’ Mass at 7 a.m. at Le Puy Cathedral, you can find credential on site. Price: €7 / credential when booking your hike
