Want to escape for a few days on the South Stevenson Trail? We offer a new short stay from Florac-Traois-Rivières to Saint-Jean-du-Gard to enjoy the Mimente region and the scents of the South of France. You’ll walk with peace of mind along the trails that will take you to Cassagnas and then to Plan de Fontmortt before reaching Saint-Germain-de-Calberte. Your steps will lead you to the magnificent village of Saint-Etienne-Vallée-Française before heading once again to the Col de Saint-Pierre and then to Saint-Jean-du-Gard, a town bathed by the Gardon River. The GR70, the Stevenson Trail, is a legendary route that crosses the Cévennes. Following in the footsteps of Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, you’ll have the opportunity to discover contrasting landscapes, including granite mountains, pine forests, Cévennes valleys, and picturesque villages. The route presents no particular difficulties; the landscapes you pass through are sublime!

Welcome to Florac, capital of the Cévennes National Park!
A town bathed by the waters of the Tarnon, Tarn, Mimente, and the Pêcher spring. It's very pleasant to wander through the narrow streets of the historic center and enjoy a drink on a terrace before setting off on the Stevenson Trail.

You will begin your day by crossing the Tarnon River, then, leaving the pine forest planted in the 19th century, you will walk alongside the murmur of the Mimente River and its beautiful translucent pools. You will leisurely reach Saint-Julien d'Arpaon or, a little further (depending on accommodation options), Cassagnas.

You'll hike through the heart of the forest, which will leave you breathless until you reach Plan de Fontmort. Then, you'll follow a magnificent balcony trail before descending to Saint-Germain de Calberte. The vegetation and scents will change...

You'll easily reach the village of Saint-Etienne Vallée Française, crowned by its castle and bathed by the waters of the Gardons River. You'll then climb to the Col de Saint-Pierre, overlooking the town of Saint-Jean du Gard, where you'll undoubtedly spend the rest of the day exploring the town's attractions. You'll notice the dominance of more Mediterranean landscapes with olive trees and dry stone walls.

You and your luggage will be picked up by a shuttle in Saint-Jean du Gard at 8:15 a.m. (arrival 9:30 a.m.) or at 1:15 p.m. (arrival 2:30 p.m.) for a return to Florac where you will find your vehicle.
