The Way of St. James from Lectoure to Aire-sur-l’Adour
This itinerary of the GR65 Way of St. James that will take you between the Gers and Landes regions. While the elevation change is gentle, you’ll discover fortified towns, magnificent villages, and towns rich in heritage and tradition. You’ll journey through the heart of Armagnac country, following in the footsteps of the famous musketeers.

Lectoure, a magnificent town on the Camino de Santiago, perched on its natural promontory, is distinguished by its Gothic Cathedral, but its narrow streets also offer a glimpse of the mansions from a rich past.

Take the path from the Gers department. Your fairly hilly route will lead you towards Marsolan, an opportunity to discover Notre Dame du Rosaire before reaching La Romieu, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, and the Saint-Pierre Collegiate Church, which signals the imminent arrival of the village.

A peaceful stopover on the way to Condom, your route will be punctuated by heritage sites, including the village of Castelnau-sur-L'Auvignon, where you can discover the Church of Our Lady of the Naativity and the Tour du Chat, before reaching the Episcopal City of Condom and its magnificent Saint-Pierre Cathedral.

You'll cross the Blaise River and your path will take you near Larresingle, where we invite you to detour to discover this magnificent village. You can take your time to reach Montréal, a beautiful bastide village.

Today, your journey will take you past numerous lakes and watering holes. Your stop will take you to Eauze, the capital of Armagnac. Eauze is a town with a rich Gallo-Roman past, which you can explore by exploring the avenues of the Elusa Capitale Antique interpretation center.
Your steps will lead you to the Pouy pond, then to the small village of Manicet, before continuing to Nogaro, a town known for its rich traditions: Armagnac, car racing, and Landes. This will also be an opportunity to visit the Saint-Nicolas Collegiate Church.
You'll now change departments as you enter the Landes department, a department created during the French Revolution that boasts many traditions such as the Landes races, public holidays, and shepherds on stilts. The end of your hike will take you, after this long stage, to Aire-sur-l'Adour, bathed by this pleasant river, which can sometimes become raging.

Your return will be ensured by a shuttle departing at 12:30 p.m. for arrival in Lectoure at 2:20 p.m.

We offer the Credential of the Friends of the Way of Saint James as an option. No need to travel; it will be sent to you with your travel diary before your departure. However, if you plan to attend the Pilgrims’ Mass at 7 a.m. at Le Puy Cathedral, you can find credential on site. Price: €7 / credential when booking your hike

Generally, bathrooms are integrated into the rooms, but they may be located on the landing or shared in some accommodations.
